The Coachella Valley Firebirds on Saturday showed what happens when a team is on the second game of a back-to-back with travel in between.

And yet they still nearly pulled off what would have been a dramatic comeback win.

A day after shutting out the San Diego Gulls on the road, the Firebirds returned home and lost, 5-3, to one of the worst teams in the American Hockey League — the Texas Stars.
