If you haven’t bought and read Table for None, Lost Eateries of Toledo, by Tedd Long and Mark Snyder, and you’re a longtime Toledoan, you’re in for a treat that will jog both your memory and taste buds. The authors have chronicled the history, backstories, personalities, cuisines, and even old menus from most of the Toledo areas now departed signature restaurants. What a journey.
From the Tally-Ho Tea Room, to the grand hotel spots in the Hillcrest, Boody House, and Commodore Perry; from Smith’s Cafeteria, Bud & Luke’s, and Eppes Essen; to fine dining establishments like The Willows; steakhouses; ethnic eateries like The Budapest; pizza parlors; and homegrown classics like Granada Gardens, Tedd and Mark lead us on a fabulous tour of Toledo’s culinary past.
