O ut-of-town visitors to Cactus Yards, Gilbert’s premier sports complex, poured over $21 million into the local economy last fiscal year alone through food and drink purchases and spending on lodging, transportation, retail and entertainment.
But a survey of users has indicated a decline in satisfaction related to summer heat.
The complex on the corner of Elliot and Power roads has eight scaled-down fields replicating famous baseball parks like Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium.
Its 20,000-square-foot field house, eight batting cages, two full-service restaurants and a playground has been a mecca for youth and adult baseball and softball tournaments and other sporting events, drawing teams from across Arizona and beyond.
