Two Chihuahua pups that looked almost exactly alike arrived separately at a Fort Worth, Texas, shelter. Once the second pup showed up, staff immediately suspected the two youngsters were siblings. In time, their hunch proved to be true.

Unfortunately, the crowded shelter and the fact that the puppies were still so tiny without their mother meant they faced a serious risk of euthanasia.

Luckily, volunteers from Fort Worth Abandoned Animal Alliance stepped in quickly. The group immediately secured a foster placement for the two babies, giving them a chance to survive.

In the beginning, that chance seemed uncertain.
