A cat has sadly died after a kitchen fire which the firefighters believe started from an item accidentally left slightly over a hob.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to an address in Dickens Road, Gravesend, at 10.18pm yesterday (November 30).
Two fire engines attended and one dog and three cats were rescued from the property.
However, a fire service spokesman said: “Sadly, one cat died.
“It's believed the fire started after the hob was accidentally turned on and ignited an item that was slightly over the hob.”
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames before ventilating the home.
