By the time anyone without a security clearance catches even the slightest glimpse of the much vaunted Epstein files they will have been scrubbed it so clean you could eat off them.

The pitched battle over their release dates back to before Trump took office during the campaign where he made a point of championing their release.

It continued through the early months of the administration, through the shutdown — which House Speaker Mike Johnson was accused of perpetuating in order to avoid releasing the files — and finally culminated in a 427-1 vote in the House in favor followed by a quick approval in the Senate.

The legislation went straight to the president’s desk and was dutifully signed, making the release of the files now a matter of law, but as always, the devil is in the details.
