FARGO — Packet Digital has been selected by the federal government to receive up to $50 million to expand its domestic battery manufacturing capacity to serve the needs of unmanned military systems.

The award is being made under the Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies Program, according to Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., who is a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee and announced the award.

The APFIT initiative aims to address gaps in U.S. military capabilities by procuring mature technologies from small businesses and nontraditional defense contractors.

The award will enable Packet Digital to expand production lines at its Badland Batteries manufacturing facility in Fargo, according to information provided by Hoeven's office.
