The Sunday after the end of college football's preset regular season (not counting conference title games) is akin to the Monday after the end of the NFL regular season. This is Black Sunday in college football, but from all the firings come hirings as well. We present our 2025-2026 college football coaching carousel hiring tracker.
Keep coming back here for updates and additions to the list as they happen.
Lane Kiffin, LSU Tigers
The messy divorce from Ole Miss becomes a College Football Playoff plot point. Kiffin had his pick of jobs and chose LSU over Ole Miss and Florida.
Pete Golding, Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss promoted Pete Golding to permanent head coach. He takes the reins for the CFP with the Rebels not having to play in the SEC Championship Game.
Jon Sumrall, Florida Gators
When Florida was out on Kiffin, it pounced on Sumrall, the Tulane coach, who is regarded as a rising star in the profession.
Alex Golesh, Auburn Tigers
Alex Golesh was linked to Arkansas last week. He and South Florida pushed back after leaks got out. Golesh did not stay at USF, though. He pivoted to Auburn.
Ryan Silverfield, Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas settling for Silverfield after thinking it might have a chance to get Alex Golesh will not sit well with the Hogs' fan base.
Tavita Pritchard, Stanford Cardinal
Tavita Pritchard played at Stanford. He coached there when Andrew Luck played there. It's no surprise Luck, the general manager, brought Pritchard aboard to be a full-time coach.
Eric Morris, Oklahoma State Cowboys
Morris has North Texas in the American Conference Championship Game against Jon Sumrall and Tulane. The winner goes to the College Football Playoff.
James Franklin, Virginia Tech Hokies
James Franklin did not take long to land on his feet after his exit from Penn State. Virginia Tech's move was widely praised in the ACC and on a national level.
JaMarcus Shephard, Oregon State Beavers
Oregon State went with a fresh face who will be given time to work his way into the job. The Beavers hired a man without head coaching experience. They will be patient here.
Jim Mora Jr., Colorado State Rams
Mora did well at UConn but decided to come back to the West and Fort Collins.
