SEDALIA, Mo - A Sedalia man is facing a new charge in Pettis County after setting a fire inside the Pettis County Jail.

According to a probable cause statement, on November 16th jail personnel, Pettis County Sheriff Deputies and the Sedalia Fire Department responded to a fire inside a cell that housed 37-year-old Clinton Wayne Davis. Upon arrival, smoke and flames were visible from the cell.

Davis was the lone occupant of the cell and when he exited it he attempted to fight the responding officers. They tased Davis in order to subdue him. It was determined that Davis started the fire with broken e-cigarettes, spliced wire cords, and assorted jail issued laundry.

Davis is now facing a charge of first-degree arson to go along with his original charges of domestic assault and kidnapping
