Waterloo city hall is considering an increase of 6.9 per cent next year in the cost of taxes and utilities for a typical household, adding $210 to current household costs estimated at $3,042.

City council will vote on proposed increases at a meeting Dec. 8.

Approval would increase property taxes by $107, up 6.4 per cent on the city’s portion of property taxes. Council previously approved this, but must confirm it to conclude a three-year budget.

It would be the highest tax increase of council’s four-year term.
