Premier Danielle Smith began her keynote speech to the UCP convention by identifying the enemy.

“Let me tell you, battling leftists, the mainstream media and other anti-Alberta forces on a daily basis can be exhausting for me and for our entire caucus,” she said Saturday morning.

She did not, however, have an unkind word for the foes looking straight at her, the many separatists within the United Conservative Party who reject her deal with Prime Minister Mark Carney.

They’re the real threat to the UCP and the agreement.

They booed her Friday night and did it again a few times during her Saturday speech.

Of course they did. The deal threatens their support.
