A child was in hospital with critical injuries after falling out of a balcony window on Friday, Woodstock police say.

Woodstock police Const. Pritpal Thind said police responded to a report of a child who had fallen from a balcony window at about 4 p.m. on Friday in the area of Wellington and King streets.

The investigation into the circumstances of the incident was ongoing, police said.

Two hurt in Central Elgin crash: OPP

Two people were taken to hospital following a serious collision on Belmont Road in Central Elgin between a pickup truck and an SUV, Ontario Provincial Police in Elgin County say.

Emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Belmont Road and Ron McNeil Line at about 8:25 p.m. on Friday, OPP said.
