Damage is estimated at $50,000 after a fire in the attic of a home in Port Dover on Sunday.
The fire was discovered by an OPP officer shortly before 3 p.m. who ran to the Main Street home, alerting the occupants and ensuring they evacuated safely, said James Robertson, deputy fire chief for the Norfolk County Fire Department.
About 20 firefighters from two stations went to the scene. Fire crews quickly found the fire in the attic and brought it under control within minutes, preventing it from extending to the second storey, said Robertson.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
