BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont City Council At-Large member Mike Williams is renewing his call for the resignation, or possible termination, of Fire Chief Earl White and Assistant Fire Chief Christian Singler, citing years of what he calls mismanagement as the department sees its strongest hiring interest in years.
The push comes after more than 160 applicants attended the fire department’s civil service exam Monday, the first time the opportunity has been opened up in several years.
The surge follows the launch of the city’s new fire cadet program, which allows uncertified applicants, including recent high school graduates to begin a path toward firefighting careers.
