MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County received a $5 million grant from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund to expand support for families experiencing homelessness, the organization announced Monday, Dec. 1.
The grant will serve families in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties over the next five years, with the goal of ensuring no child sleeps outside.
United Way plans to achieve a functional zero level of families in emergency shelter by offering centralized connection to housing resources, flexible financial assistance and wraparound support.
