Kolkata, Dec 1: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has identified 2,208 polling booths in West Bengal that reportedly do not contain a single deceased voter, duplicate entry, or voter who has shifted elsewhere, according to officials at the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office in the state. South 24 Parganas leads with 760 such booths, followed by Purulia with 228, while Murshidabad and Malda recorded 226 and 216 respectively.
In addition, 582 booths had only one case of a deceased, duplicate, or shifted voter, and 420 booths recorded two such cases. Despite these figures, the BJP has questioned the credibility of the data.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation councillor Sajal Ghosh described the figures as “quite doubtful” and demanded a thorough review
