A Blenhiem man was arrested after a report of a handgun being pointed at motorists led to a high-risk traffic stop and a man being arrested, said Chatham-Kent police.

A person was seen waving and pointing a handgun at motorists while driving dangerously on Communication Road in Harwich Township just before 9:30 a.m. police said.

Officers located a suspect vehicle near Communication Road and Fairview Line, on the outskirts of Chatham, police said.

The driver attempted to flee, resulting in police use of high-risk stop techniques based on the possible possession of a firearm, police said.

After several minutes of communication, the driver complied with instructions by getting out of the vehicle and was arrested.
