The Kitchener Rangers are warning residents and business owners about a scam involving vendor and promotional space.
The club said it has received reports from individuals and business owners that have been contacted by people claiming to be members of the team’s business operations staff trying to collect payment for vendor space, merchandise tables or promotional opportunities at upcoming home games during the season.
In some cases, the scammers are asking for advance payments through unofficial and unsecured channels.
The club said the Rangers will never enter into a vendor or promotional agreement without prior communication, will never request advance payment for any product or service, and that legitimate correspondence from staff will come from an email address ending in @kitchen
