FLORENCE, Ala. - Two Florence Police officers were hurt while capturing a theft suspect from Tennessee.
Officers on Nov. 29 responded to a welfare check about a man slumped behind the wheel of a vehicle at Rick’s BBQ on Florence Boulevard.
About 12:20 p.m., officers encountered the man, who they say initially refused to provide identification and later gave false information. When confronted, he attempted to run away but was subdued after a brief pursuit.
The individual was identified as Peyton Watkins, 27, from Parsons, Tennessee. He has active felony warrants in Tennessee for vehicle theft and burglary.
Two officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the arrest. One officer was treated for a cut above the eye, and the other for a deep contusion in the arm. One officer has
