SALISBURY — As a way to give back to the community, members of Help a Vet Shine, Inc., a local nonprofit, provided free meals to anyone in need through their Plate of Thanks event.
The group set up a tent on Nov. 22 in the parking lot of AutoZone on East Innes St., Salisbury and served dinners of smoked chicken, beans, rice, bread and dessert beginning at 1 p.m. and continued until they ran out. At approximately 2 p.m., they had served close to 100 meals, said Debora Bare, president of the organization.
The members were quick to express thanks to those who helped provide for the meals, which included Allison Tuck from the Texas Roadhouse in Salisbury who donated the rolls and free appetizer cards that were placed in each meal. Bare noted t
