In re Georgia Senate Bill 202 (enacted: March 25, 2021) has not been a model of litigation efficiency. So many parties and lawyers have signed onto the briefing that case management has been problematic–for instance, twenty-one pages of interested parties and their counsel were listed on the state’s brief in this case back in 2023. The district court’s order with respect to bans on electioneering (Georgia framed it as giving out gifts, whereas plaintiffs characterized it as distributing food and water to people standing in line) was appealed by Georgia on September 19, 2023. The case finally made its way to oral argument August 13, 2025, before ending with a whimper today (December 1, 2025)–a unanimous six page per curiam decision remanding the case for further consideration in light
