A 27-year-old Maine man with a famous literary name was arrested in Lakewood for a bank robbery after being involved in a crash on Thanksgiving, authorities said.

Thomas Sawyer was the suspect in the robbery of a Chase Bank in Scarborough, Maine that occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 26, Scarborough Police said.

Sawyer robbed the bank at 1:39 p.m., leaving with an undisclosed amount of money, police said. No weapon was used in the robbery, police said.

Following the robbery, Sawyer's vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Scarborough, police said.

Sawyer was involved in a two-car crash in Lakewood on Clifton Avenue Thursday before he was taken into custody, according to TheLakewoodScoop.

He is charged with robbery, assault by auto, simple assault, false imprisonment and contempt, according to the Ocean County Department of Corrections.
