After a five-year period of disconnect with a past spiritual adviser, an attempt to reconnect was made which, while treading water, resulted in an outcome that was unexpected.

What had been hoped for, at least on my part, was a deep yearning that the relationship that had been so damaged could be open to a fresh start, even as I heard the voice of a mentor from many years ago reminding me that we can’t go back.
