PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) - On Monday, Pascagoula football head coach Lewis Sims notified his team and coaches that he would not be returning next season.
After 15 seasons with the Panthers, Sims is stepping down and will retire from both coaching and teaching.
“Thank you all for the support and memories over the last 15 years,” said Sims. “It’s been fun. I wish the program fair winds and following seas in its next chapter.”
Sims leaves Pascagoula as the longest-tenured and winningest coach in the program’s 106-year history. He finishes with an overall record of 103-77 (60-39) and 2 district titles since taking over for the team in 2011.
He also coached for the Moss Point Tigers from 2008 to 2010, leading the River City to a record of 25-11 and winning a district title in that span.
