WESTMORELAND, Tenn. (WSMV) - True Rescue is putting out an urgent plea for support and pet foster parents after dozens of animals were discovered in a house fire-turned-hoarding case.
The shelter said that it is working to track down about 40 cats and three dogs after a house fire led to the discovery of a hoarding case in Westmoreland.
“We are working hand-in-hand with the Macon County Sheriffs Dept. and Animal Control to remove all of the animals from the property today,” the rescue said in a Monday post on Facebook.
True Rescue said that multiple animals tragically died in the blaze, which happened a few weeks ago.
“There was sadly a large loss of animal lives here during the fire, and the survivors have just been living on the ground and in the rubble of the house,“ the post said.
