Julia Garner , well known for her roles as Ruth Langmore in Netflix's crime drama series Ozark and, most recently, Justine Gandy in the acclaimed 2025 horror flick Weapons , has taken on a number of impressive projects over the years, both for small and large screens. In 2019, amid Ozark' s four-season run, the actress appeared in a pretty disturbing indie film directed by Kitty Green , which critics found absolutely remarkable. Titled The Assistant , the workplace drama film debuted at the Telluride Film Festival on August 30, 2019, before hitting US theaters on January 31, 2020. Five years later, the movie just got much easier to watch as it arrives on its new streaming home.
