MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — The salt shed is filled with more than 6,000 tons of salt at the PennDOT building along Route 611 in Bartonsville. Crews here are preparing for whatever Mother Nature sends to our area.
"We currently have all of our crews checking their trucks, making sure the plow is cutting edges spreaders work. We were out over the holiday weekend, so we did have a good light test run of all of the equipment," said Ian Shedlock, Roadway Programs Coordinator, PennDOT District 5.
In Monroe County, PennDOT has 36 trucks to cover more than 500 miles of road. With the timing of this snowfall, officials say they know not everyone can stay home, so they're reminding people to drive with caution.
