The State of Connecticut is paying $2.25 million to resolve a wrongful death lawsuit after a visiting nurse was murdered by a convicted sex offender in 2023.
Joyce Grayson was working as a visiting nurse in 2023 when she was sent to administer medication to Michael Reese. He admitted to killing Grayson during the visit and was recently sentenced to 50 years in prison.

“We are very pleased today to report the conclusion of all the civil litigation surrounding Joyce Grayson's death,” said Kelly Reardon, the attorney for the Grayson family. “That settlement is part of a global resolution of all claims made against all defendants in the Superior Court.”
