The director of the Lucas County Office of Management and Budget will leave the position at the end of the year, according to his resignation letter.
John Wenzlick resigned from the position effective Jan. 2, saying he would leave the county “to focus on my private business and legal endeavors.” The resignation was submitted to county administration on Oct. 6 and was accepted two days later.
Mr. Wenzlick joined the county’s office of management and budget in November, 2024. He was previously Ottawa Hills’ chief of police and the village’s administrator, assuming those roles in 2012 and 2020, respectively.
In the letter, he said he was “committed to a smooth transition and will see the 2026 budget process through to its completion.” The county unanimously passed its 2026 budget last week
