RUSTBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Data centers that power artificial intelligence have become a major topic of discussion and concern around the country and in our hometowns.

In Campbell County, many people are worried about data centers coming to their area, and the county’s board of supervisors is set to consider a change that many people have been pushing for.

On Tuesday night, Campbell County supervisors will consider an ordinance requiring a special-use permit for any data center to be built, regardless of a property’s zoning. Currently, data centers can be built by-right on any heavy industrial zoned property without approval from the board.
