Nisswa Mayor Jennifer Carnahan says she was assaulted outside a municipal bar and liquor store during the City of Lights event.
In a social media post on Saturday, Carnahan writes that she was "unexpectedly confronted by a woman who became verbally aggressive" and "physically pushed" her on Friday night outside Ye Old Pickle Factory in downtown Nisswa.
Carnahan says she immediately reported the "intimidating and frightening" incident to Nisswa PD.
"I'm sharing this because intimidation and physical aggression have no place in our town or anywhere for that matter," she writes.
In 2024, Carnahan was elected mayor of Nisswa, where she's owned Primrose Park boutique for a decade. She previously served as chair of the Minnesota Republican Party from 2017 until her forced resignation in 2021
