NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - Starting today, drivers will no longer have their window tint checked during state inspections under Senate Bill 43.
For Craven Tire & Automotive Repair owner Blake Frames, he says he agrees with the change.
“It’s not really an issue as far as your vehicle being roadworthy to get the tint looked at for a state inspection. I think it’s a good thing, but we’ll see how it goes,” Frames said.
However, the law doesn’t allow you to choose any tint. A vehicle’s tint percentage must be no darker than 32%.
The bill also requires drivers with tinted windows to roll them down when stopped by law enforcement.
