FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A Forsyth County man previously sentenced to death for killing his wife in 2010 has been re-sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Juan Carlos Rodriguez, 50, was re-sentenced Monday in Forsyth County Superior Court. Rodriguez was convicted of first-degree murder in 2014 for killing his wife, Maria Rodriguez, whose body was found in a wooded area two months after she disappeared.

According to evidence presented at trial, Maria Rodriguez sought refuge at a domestic violence shelter in Winston-Salem in October 2010 with the couple’s three young children.
