Snowfall forecasts for parts of Massachusetts have surged, with some areas now expected to receive nearly a foot of snow on Tuesday.
A winter storm warning has been issued parts of Western, Central and Eastern Massachusetts, the majority from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters say the snow will be heavy and wet, starting early Tuesday in Western Massachusetts and spreading east by mid-morning.
While rain will dominate most eastern parts of the state during the day, the snow is expected to return late Tuesday night — and some areas could see snow all day.
Western Massachusetts is likely to remain all snow throughout the storm.
