RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Speed tables are being installed in parts of Richmond’s Fan and Museum districts as the city works to slow traffic in pedestrian-heavy areas that are a part of the high-injury network.

The new tool is a way to physically get drivers to slow down, or it will be a pretty bumpy ride. Speed tables are smaller and a bit more gradual than speed bumps you might see in parking lots, but they make sure drivers are going a reasonable speed.

The city will install three speed tables on both Cary and Main streets between Arthur Ashe Boulevard and Harrison Street. Ellwood Avenue will get two speed tables between Arthur Ashe Boulevard and Thompson Street.
