Among the many readers who sent comments to The Oklahoman regarding the controversial essay by a University of Oklahoma student that received a grade of zero , several identified themselves as teachers — some at the college level.

Reprimand the instructor

Having read the professors' comments, the assignment instructions, and the student submission, the zero grade is clearly a violation of the speech and religion protections applicable to public institutions.

On a 25- point scale, the student clearly accomplished the second objective, which I will not restate here.

For the third objective, I would likely award at least 3-4 of the five points for writing quality.
