BEAUMONT, Texas — The Beaumont City Council will vote Tuesday on whether to adopt a new ethics policy that would create the city’s most detailed standards yet for conflicts of interest, political activity and official conduct. The proposal will be considered at the council’s 1:30 p.m. meeting at City Hall.

The policy, titled “Rules of Conduct for City Officials," was drafted at the request of councilmembers after discussions on July 7 and during a July 15 work session. It is designed to “bring clearer expectations, transparency, and a consistent enforcement process” to how elected officials, board members and high-level staff conduct themselves, according to the release.
