WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The Supreme Court must decide how much federal courts can override the Trump administration on immigrants seeking asylum.
The case could give judges more power to reign in immigration decisions from the executive branch.
A Salvadorian national Douglas Humberto Urias-Orellana says he is on the run from a hit man who already shot his half brothers – and needs protection in the U.S.
The Trump administration says the family does not meet the standard of persecution to be granted asylum.
Attorneys for Urias-Orellana say he has reason to argue threats from a hit man amount to persecution. Joshua Dos Santos presented arguments:
