JACKSON CO., Miss. (WLOX) - On Monday, officials with the Pascagoula-Gautier School District announced both Pascagoula High and Gautier High will begin using weapons detection systems when students return from the upcoming holiday break.
The school district describes the move as a proactive one, adding an early layer of protection that allows them to stay ahead of potential risks rather than respond after something happens. Similar technology is already in use at athletic events in the district.
To prepare students for the new school arrival procedures, the following guidelines have been posted:
Students should stay in a single file line and follow staff directions.
Backpacks and personal items can remain zipped unless a staff member asks to follow up on an alert.
Chromebooks, laptops
