GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids mother accused of setting her home on fire with her three daughters inside is now one step closer to possibly facing a jury.
On Monday, a district court judge ruled there is enough evidence for Roconda Singleton to stand trial. After hearing hours of testimony, the judge said this case now belongs in Circuit Court.
Just a month after being found competent to stand trial, Roconda Singleton returned to the district court Monday for a preliminary exam, where it was determined prosecutors had enough evidence to move the case forward.
The oldest daughter in the home, 12-year-old Shamiya Stewart, died two days later from her injuries.
