Dan Hurley isn’t overly concerned about the Big East’s status vis-a-vis the NET Rankings.
When the initial Rankings came out Monday, UConn was the only team in the Top 20 (at No. 8), while only four teams are in the Top 50, including No. 50 Seton Hall.
Big East teams have record of 55-26 (68%) versus non-league competition, and are just 3-8 vs. AP Top 25 teams, including UConn’s wins over No. 7 BYU and No. 13 Illinois, as well as Seton Hall’s upset of No. 23 N.C. State in Maui.
The NET Rankings are used as a tool by the NCAA Tournament selection committee to seed the Field of 68.
“We’re basically around a little bit more than halfway through the non-conference slate, maybe around the halfway mark,” Hurley said Monday on a Zoom call in response to a question from NJ Advance Media.
