My 41st fall season of covering northeastern South Dakota high school sports for the Watertown Public Opinion isn't one I'll soon forget, if ever.
The fall season concluded over the last weekend when the last of six area volleyball teams completed play in the state high school volleyball tournament at Rapid City.
In between the more than three months of covering high school sports were funerals for both of my parents, a major surgery (hip replacement) for me and another family matter, that although I won't discuss here, turned out gratefully well.
Now these are life issues most families, not just ours, have to deal with but that's the point — it was our turn this fall.
