A North Texas high school athlete known for excelling in the classroom and on the field is making history in a brand-new league.
Abigail Moore, a senior at Arlington High School, was selected in the 6th round of the draft for the inaugural Women’s Pro Baseball League, which will begin play in August 2026.
“Yes, I got drafted to the New York team,” Moore said, smiling. “So this provides a whole new door that I didn’t even know was there, and it’s exciting to know that I have more opportunity to play the sport that I love.”
Moore has played on Arlington High’s baseball, basketball and softball teams, but her passion for baseball began in t-ball.
“There was no question I was a lot better than a lot of the boys I was playing against,” Moore said.
