CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A Cuyahoga County probation officer is facing charges after he was accused of asking for a bribe.

Andre Starks, 26, asked for cash in exchange for helping a woman under his supervision, court records say.

He is charged in Cleveland Municipal Court with bribery, a third-degree felony. Starks posted 10 percent of a $7,500 bond set during his initial appearance on Saturday.

The case now heads to a Cuyahoga County grand jury that will decide how the case proceeds.

Starks declined to comment.

Authorities say Starks on Wednesday met with the woman outside the May Dugan Center, which is the county’s social services headquarters.

The woman said she wanted permission to travel outside of town. That’s when Starks asked her for money, court records show.
