GRAYVILLE, Ill. (WFIE) - A restaurant will reopen its doors this week after an equipment malfunction caused a weekend closure.
Richard Bunting manages The Smokin’ Pig , a popular restaurant in Grayville. He says, when he got to the restaurant Saturday and opened the cooler door, he immediately knew something was wrong.
“I walk in Saturday morning, walk in to the walk-in to get a a prime rib out to put on the smoker and I was like, man, feels warm. Look at the thermometer and it was 64.9 degrees in there,” Bunting said.
That’s twice the temperature the cooler should be, he says, adding the compressor broke while the restaurant was closed for Thanksgiving.
“Everything in the whole cooler was ruined,” Bunting said. “It was close to, I think, $9,400 worth of food.”
