WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - West Monroe Police Department is cracking down of thefts this holiday season thanks to its Santa Patrol program.

Santa Patrol consists of uniformed officers who patrol and make sure the community stays protected while shopping.

In previous years, West Monroe has seen a trend of thieves throughout the holiday season. The patrols are located at multiple businesses across the city.

Chief Jason Pleasant believes the Santa Patrol will lower the number of crimes and help protect the community.

“Those officers and uniform officers in the retail shopping vicinity, our biggest purpose is to deter crime. To push the element crime outside of where we’re at”, said Chief Pleasant.
