WASHINGTON — With a winter mix of freezing rain and slushy snow in the forecast, road crews are working to prepare for the onslaught of drivers hitting the road for their morning commute.
The first round of rain and snow will move through the region overnight into Tuesday morning. The mix with slushy snow and some freezing rain will impact areas west of I-95 during the morning hours between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. By around 6 a.m., it will be pouring rain for most of the region, except for areas well north and west, where snow will continue to accumulate, and ice will remain a concern in the higher elevations.
