TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Indiana State Police tells News 10 it is on the lookout for fraudulent CDL's given to illegal immigrants.
Per a 287G agreement with the federal government , ISP is responsible for helping ICE detain suspected illegal immigrants. This includes commercial drivers on Indiana interstates. "There are illegal immigrants behind these 18-wheelers that you see going down the roadway. We are making traffic stops and finding out that we are running into them," says Sgt. Matt Ames with the Indiana State Police. ISP has worked with ICE to detain or deport 21 people statewide under this agreement.
