In recognition of World AIDS Day, the Berrien County Health Department is encouraging everyone to check out its HIV prevention, testing, and education services.

Berrien County is among the top ten counties in Michigan for HIV infections. Emma Yazel is an STD and HIV community health worker at the health department and tells us anyone who’s sexually active should be getting tested every three to six months.

“ We offer rapid HIV testing, which at the Berrien County Health Department, you can know your results in about 20 minutes,” Yazel said.

Yazel says those who use injection drugs are also advised to get tested frequently.
