SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — The family of a woman killed in a head-on crash along Highway 2 has filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
On Feb. 21, 2024, Tu Lam, a 55-year-old mother and wife from Monroe, was killed when driving home from work in Snohomish County.
Lam’s death was “preventable” and the highway section where she died was, and is, “inherently dangerous,” the lawsuit states.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) determined a 23-year-old man was driving westbound along Highway 2 near Milepost 7 when he crossed the centerline, drove into oncoming traffic and struck Lam’s minivan head-on. Lam died at the scene.
